The Recipe
Ingredients:
(Approximate non-metric equivalents are given in the video above)
- 200g Dry Pasta
- 500ml Single cream
- 200g Dark Chocolate
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
- 1 Vanilla pod (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
- 2 teaspoons cornflour
Method:
Put the pasta in a large pan and cover with plenty of water - put over a medium heat to cook.
Slit the vanilla pod along its length and scrape out the inside with a knife - add this to the cream (save the empty pod - it can be buried in a container of sugar to infuse flavour into it - try vanilla sugar sprinkled on your strawberries - it's lovely)
Warm the cream over a low heat. While it is warming, mix the cornflour with a little water - enough to make a milk-like consistency.
Add the honey to the cream and stir it in.
Break or cut the chocolate into small pieces and add it to the cream - whisk over the heat until it has fully melted in.
Add the cornflour mixture and whisk vigorously. Keep whisking over the heat until the chocolate sauce thickens.
When the pasta is cooked, drain it well and put it in a large dish. Pour over the chocolate sauce and mix very thoroughly.
The dessert can be served immediately, or reheated in an oven. It's great with ice cream.
