Background and experience
My most recent experience is as IT Manager for a warehousing and distribution company
Providing very broad IT support and managment, as well as developing maintaining and supporting the company's own stock and accounting systems.
I have a strong supply chain and systems control background.
History
Starting out as Warehouse Assistant for a Duty Free retailer, I gained experience of many facets of the supply chain.
I moved into Internal Audit, where a series of promotions took me to the role of Inventory Analyst - responsible for a diverse range of stock and accounting audit and control functions and providing aggressive remedial problem analysis for all departments.
I moved to a publishing and wholesale company, as Inventory Manager - responsible for purchasing and stock control.
From there, I took a sideways move/promotion to the role of Development Manager - still with an inventory-related slant, but now designing and developing the systems to do it.
When the owners of that company retired, they sold the business to their warehousing and distribution provider and at this point, I was promoted to Group IT manager.
A quick look around this site will - I hope - tell you I'm a practical, creative, adaptable, energetic worker - optimistic and capable of motivating myself to get a job done - good at finding or creating the resources to do it - able to recognise and take responsibility for my own mistakes and shortcomings and then take decisive action to correct them.
Although the Atomic Shrimp website chiefly deals with my leisure activities, where possible and appropriate, I apply these attitudes and approaches in my work.
- I can't help but want to make things work, and work better.
I'm currently looking for employment opportunities where I can apply these general skills and attributes, as well as developing new ones.
